MAKEUP | Revlon Ultra HD Matte LipColor Review

Hello my lovelies and welcome to Looks By Li! http://twilightdelight.tumblr.com I hope you are all having a wonderful week thus far. So I wanted to go ahead and post a beauty review http://twilightdelight.tumblr.com/post/148059799070/makeup-the-estee-edit-by-estee-lauder-flash today because as I look back on the past few years one trend that seems to be in full force, and not giving away any signs of decline is the buzz around Lip products and Liquid Lipsticks. I must admit when this trend first hit big buzz-worthy news in the beauty blogging community I jumped on the higher-end liquid lipstick bandwagon. It wasn’t for a few months after that drug store brands like Revlon and Maybelline began creating their own innovative and creative formulas to target the liquid lipstick market.

I was hesitant to try out drug store liquid lipsticks because honestly, I just didn’t think I would get the same high-end quality I was use to with brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, or Kat Von D. By the way these are the two top liquid lipstick producers in my opinion! But, then I started seeing many beauty gurus really dive into some of the drug store brands and I decided I should give them a fair shot and try them myself as well. After a few months of testing and reviewing there have been some outstanding formulas I would love to discuss and share with you guys.

I want to start with Revlon! http://www.revlon.com Revlon’s version of the liquid lipstick is their Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors. I decided to start with this baby first as I got the color “Flirtation”, which is a highly recommend color for me for summer! It is that perfect vibrant coral/pink without being too neon, like say an ABH neon coral.

There are a few bullet points I want to discuss when it comes to these lip products so let’s dive right in. First off, if you are expecting the formula to be a dupe for Anastasia or Kat Von D, you will be disappointed and I wouldn’t recommend these at all! Now if your expectation is a comfortable, richly pigmented, velvet finish, almost mouse like consistency with a scent of cherries, ding, ding, ding, this one’s for you!

Let’s start with packaging. It is by far the most unique liquid lipstick packaging I have seen to date and definitely eye catching. The doe foot applicator is long and pointy at the tip, which allows for a smooth, one-swipe application. The tube is plastic with a matte like finish and a chrome cap. It is sleek, chic, and easy to transport just about anywhere you want to travel. You get 0.2 fluid ounces, which I believe is standard for liquid lipsticks. You might get slightly more in ABH tube. My only complaint about the packaging is the name is not printed on the tube itself, which makes it difficult to recall once you have removed the seal sticker, which is the only place the name is actually printed on. You would think after years of having this complaint, companies would get the drift … put the names on the actual bottles people!

Now, lets move on to formula! The formula of these is rich, pigmented, velvety almost moose-like in texture, and very moisturizing on the lips. I don’t ever feel like this formula ever dries down to a complete matte, so that is a bit of a misnomer on the labeling of this product. These are not your typical light, liquid-y, super matte and drying liquid lipstick formula. These are better yet described as, if you were to take a regular tube lipstick, melt it down, and placed it in a liquid lipstick tube. That’s what the Revlon liquid lipstick formula is like. Because this formula never dries down formula it is not transfer proof. Also if you are not careful you can smudge these off everywhere so try not to touch your lips too much, until it dries down as much as possible. Once they do dry, they have a good 4 to 6 hour wear time, or before you eat. Once you eat they come off on your napkin and they leave a bit of a pink stain behind, which if you like that you’ll love these. You can also touch up and reapply with no clumping issues.

Lastly, lets discuss scent and price. In terms of scent they actually smell very similar to other drug store liquid lipstick brands. I am not sure if these companies all got together and decided that cherries was the scent of the year, and that everyone would obsess over! Well let me tell you, not everyone loves that fruity scent lol. I on the other hand love it! I think it gives the lipstick a nice appeal, as appose to it smelling like chemicals, like the LA splash metallic liquid lipsticks do. Price wise these are extremely affordable at $7.99 to $9.00 depending on where you purchase. These can be found at almost any drug store and beauty stores, including Ulta, CVS, Target, and Walgreens.

I believe that is everything I wanted to cover guys. If I missed anything or forgot to mention something, please be sure to comment down below. Also if you have tried other colors I would be interested in knowing if they perform differently or are all on the same level of pigmentation and formula? As always stay chic everybody and I will see you guys here in my next one. Be sure to follow my blog on Bloglovin! https://www.bloglovin.com/blogs/looksbyli-14811105
