Lip Cocktails for Summer: Lancôme Juicy Shakers

Hello everyone and welcome back to LooksByLi! I wanted to start a new series here on my blog this summer featuring the new, innovative lip Juicy Shakers from Lancôme. This is a product I am currently obsessed with and I thought the whole cocktails and shakers theme was a perfect hit for summer. Lancôme gives new meaning to the phrase “party in your mouth”! Except its more like, party on your lips. An exciting and innovative new lip product that is sure to gain momentum like liquid lipsticks did a few years back.

I believe it was Yves Saint Laurent who first introduced this concept of oil infused lip products with their Volupte Tint-In-Oil lip-glosses. Since then more and more innovative products using lip oils are beginning to make their way into the beauty market. Though they both use oils, the Lancôme Lip Juicy Shaker introduced a form of melding these ingredients with a high pigment payoff. This series will entail various lip combination or “cocktails” if you will that will be perfect to strut for summer! I believe a lot of you beauty enthusiasts out there will really enjoy this series. Every week I will feature a new shaker gloss paired with a lipstick or lip liner combo or lip “cocktail”, perfect for achieving those glossy, plump lips for summer. I know a lot of ladies out there want to simplify their makeup routines in the summer and a heavy, drying liquid lipstick is just not on par with the sunny, humid days of summer. During this time of year everyone wants that plump, shinny look to the skin and the lips are no exception. Let me begin by giving you a mini review and background thoughts of the Juicy Shakers from Lancôme.

The slogan of this makeup product is, “Shake it, Twist it, Love it! Colors that turn you on”, and boy do they ever. The complete collection comes with 18 colorful mix of peaches, cranberries, and reds, not to mention a blue that gives a gorgeous pink/purple tint to the lips. This product is seriously addictive and I want to own the entire collection. It consists of a lip oil with a pillowy-soft cushion applicator for a delicate shot of color, with a hint of shine to the lips. Because it is an oil gloss, the pillow cushion applicator helps smooth the product and apply it evenly to the lips. For the best application be sure to pat the product on the lips similarly to how you would apply foundation using a beauty blender. The next thing to keep in mind is this product separates between oil and pigment so you have to give it a good shake before use.

The Juicy Shaker’s bi-phasic technology delivers the first pigmented lip oil with 2 distinct phases. The first phase is a transparent oil phase for a comfortable non-sticky shine. This is very true you guys. When I applied these on their own, it left no sticky residue and they melted in very nicely into the lips. The second phase is the pigment, for a shot of color! Shake the gloss like a cocktail shaker to mx the phases and get the final lip product.

The product is a cocktail blend of 4 nourishing oils that treat your lips similarly to a lip balm, but much more moisturizing and plumping. Peach kernel oil; a well-known emollient softens the lips, while Sweet Almond oil conditions and Cranberry oil provides rich anti-oxidant properties. So, not only are these glosses super nourishing, but they also smell like the oils they are infused with. The one I featured today is the peach and it smells divine. If you can’t tell from watching my YouTube videos, peach is one of my all time favorite scents! But that’s not all; Muscat Rose oil is also included for a rich in essential fatty acids combo that helps to soothe the lips as well. Your lips will feel on cloud nine, you wont resist reapplying these babies over and over again, and because they are oil infused, they will never goop up, cake up, or flake off.

Now it’s time to create your own Parisian Lip Cocktail:

Start with a base: In my featured look today I started with applying a lip liner from Mac in lasting sensation all over the lips.

Add a “shot” of flavor and non-sticky shine with your Juicy Shaker of choice: Then using the shaker in Freedom of Peach I tapped that on top for a fruity looking splash of peach/pink on my lips!

And voilà you got yourself an irresistible lip combo for summer!

Monday Must-Have: The Most Worn item in My Closet

Hello my lovelies! I hope everyone had an incredible weekend! My boyfriend and I actually went on a total movie binge this weekend and saw a double feature, The Shallows and Independence Day Resurgence. Did anyone go to the movies this weekend and if you did, what did you see? Comment below!

Enough catching up though, I am sure you guys are here because you realized this was a fashion post, not a recap of my movie taste lol. If you are new to my blog, first of all, Welcome! On Mondays I like to do a series here on my blog, which highlights fashion pieces or makeup products I believe are a Must-Have in anyone’s wardrobe. This week looking into my closet I realized, there is an item I wear a TON! Not only do I wear this item often, but it also happens to be quite a staple in most everyone’s wardrobe. So if this is an item that you don’t have at least two colors of in your wardrobe right now, then you need to make a shopping trip pronto. I am talking about the denim short! Now-a-days there are so many washes, colors, and styles, that styling them can get a bit overwhelming. I am not going to lie I love the denim on denim style. I have been hearing rumors from beauty bloggers that this trend is becoming dated and tacky, well I am here to tell you denim on denim can be a simple and effortless chic style if you know how to pull it off.

The denim short is such a staple piece because it is effortless and you can dress it up or down to suite many different occasions. Now if you work in an office Mondays through Fridays I might recommend you keep this staple for the weekends. Believe it or not I work in an office full time, so business wear is what I am allowed to style over the week, but when that weekend rolls around you better believe I will be in my denim shorts! I live in these things and I never get tired of styling them. For the easiest throw-on-and-go style, you need little more than a white Tee and slip-on sneakers, but if you are on your way to a summer brunch, this may call for a button-up and blazer combo with some stylish pumps. Like I said dress them up or down and celebrate the fact that it’s finally time to pull those jean shorts out of storage with these style tips I am about to give you.

There is a very good reason why denim shorts are my go-to most worn piece of fashion in my wardrobe. In my feature look today I was on my way to a movie and lunch with my boyfriend. I love looking casual on the weekends, but still adding flare and elements of my style that will help make me feel a bit more put together than with just a simple white Tee and shorts. The way I like to do this is with accessories and shoes. For my look I went with a denim-on-denim style. My personal favorite is mixing jeans of different washes and tones. I went with a light wash button-up top, to give me a more casual yet a bit more dressed up overall look. I layered the look with a white tank top underneath the button-up, in case the movie theater was a bit too cold. It often happens to me that I will wear a strappy tank and shorts to the movies and then I’ll be freezing my little butt off for two hours. Layering is also a great way to cut down the jean on jean look without making it look too overwhelming. Plus, you can layer and still feel cool when you are out in the sun. Then I added accessories to complete the full outfit.

As for jewelry I like to keep my looks simple. I always wear my heart necklace my boyfriend got me as a Christmas present two years ago. When I have accessories like hats on, which draw a lot of attention I like to keep the gold and silver jewelry to a minimum. I will need to make a run for the accessories section at Forever21 soon though as there are a few new pieces I would like to get my hands on, but I think I will add that to my Wednesday’s wish list post this week, so be sure to be on the look out for that.
