Hello everyone! I hope you all had a magnificent weekend. I
wanted to start a new mini series here on my blog, which incorporates
everything having to do with skincare. As a woman in her mid thirties, skincare
is at the forefront of my beauty regimen. Hence finding out about skincare
products that work best for my skin, is equally as important as how to stay
trendy in a time when trends are shuffling faster than a deck of black jack
cards at a casino. With so many skincare products out there many of us can feel
overwhelmed and lost as to where to start or even what to look for when it
comes to helping our skin age gracefully, or even other concerns such acne and
pigmentation. Hopefully this series will answer some of these questions and
more. Also it will give you the opportunity to learn from the research I have
done on the subject to better decide what might work best for you and your skin
type.
First and foremost I should probably tell you about my skin
and my biggest concerns right now as a consumer of skincare products. Like I
stated before I am a woman in my mid 30s, who’s main concerns are wrinkles,
hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I have oily combination skin, with the occasional
acne breakouts. Now if this sounds on point with your skin type then you will
love this series. If these are not your biggest concerns, be sure to let me
know in the comment section below so that I may write to you and address your
concerns specifically, whether it be in similar blog posts in the future or
directly one-on-one via comments.
Let me preface all of this by saying I have tested out and
used skincare products since I was 18 years old. Yes, shocking I know a lot of
people might think eighteen years of age is too young to be testing out
skincare products. But, let me set your mind at ease, research has shown that
the earlier you address your skincare concerns the longer you will prolong
those concerns from manifesting or getting worse. So for instance, if I wanted
my skin to show no signs of wrinkling till I was 50 or older I knew I had to
start looking into ways to prevent this as my skin matured. Now this isn’t to
say that if you are 50 now that it’s too late for you. I know many mature women
who have started new skincare regiments at this age and are still seeing
dramatic results. I want to help teach you what nutrients, vitamins, and
essential ingredients you should be looking for when selecting the proper skin
care routine.
There are of course, sometimes, exceptions to the rules. For
example, have you ever seen two types of cleansers in the drug store isle? One
for oily/combo skin, and another for dry skin. This isn’t to say that just
because you have oily, skin you should stick to and only use products for oily
skin. Yes, with certain skincare items you might want to stick with this rule
of thumb, but not always. Sometimes your skin might be very dehydrated, even
though you have oily skin, so a cleanser suited for dry skin might actually
work best for you. I have actually encountered this issue in my skincare
journey and will elaborate more on it on a separate post.
Today’s post is going to highlight a product I recently
discovered from influenster. www.influenster.com/r/1733217 Don’t know what influenster is, check out my introduction video here. http://twilightdelight.tumblr.com/post/147392892960/introducing-ole-henriksen-power-bright-system
I also want to address the elephant in the room, simply
because I have received a product complimentary to test out doesn’t mean I will
always endorse it and rave about it. Rest assured that my most honest opinion
will always be shared on these posts. That being said lets go on to my full
review o the new Ole Henriksen Power Bright three-step system.
Ole Henriksen http://www.olehenriksen.com/index
Skincare is a skincare line created by a Danish cosmetician named Ole
Henriksen. In 1975 Ole traveled to America and opened up his very first
spa/salon in Beverly Hills. Shortly thereafter he introduced the world to his now
critically acclaimed skincare products in the 1980s. You can only imagine my
excitement when I discovered I would be testing out a few of his products. I
had always heard magnificent things about this skin care brand, but had never
taken the plunge to splurge on it.
One thing you should all know about me is that when it comes
to splurging, I don’t always spend a lot of money on high-end products, but
when it comes to skincare and skincare that I know works best, I will give a
little extra to make sure I am getting quality ingredients. That being said
please don’t assume I will only talk about high end brand because I also love a
bargain and have discovered many drug store brands with equal if not on par
results with brands that cost more. Another exception to the rule is just
because it cost more doesn’t mean its better. This is so true not just of
makeup, but especially skincare.
Power Bright Review
$55:
This product is meant for people of all and any skin types
so this right here is a plus and pro of this product. It is a
professional-strength three-step brightening system with an unprecedented 25%
vitamin C concentrate. This helps deliver the maximum radiance in as little as
one use. See you for yourself in the images people, I am not bluffing when I
agree this statement is true. After only one use my skin felt and looked years
younger and brighter, more rejuvenated. Power Bright helps address such
skincare concerns as dullness, uneven skin tone, and fine lines and wrinkles.
All the marks I tick off when I am looking for a new skincare product. Now if
these are your concerns also, I highly recommend you giving this a try. Yes
there is no doubt this is a pricy mask/treatment, but I can tell you I definitely
got more than one use out of it and my skin looked progressively better with
every use.
Ole Henriksen was one of the very first
skincare brands to champion vitamin C, the gold standard for fighting signs of
aging. It helps brighten and even the complexion and promotes firmer, more
youthful-looking skin. This is exactly what I experienced when trying this
product for the first time.
This three-step system takes inspiration from
Ole Henriksen’s POWER Peel, the most-requested treatment at his spa. Each box
contains six treatment sleeves with three numbered pods. The pods help protect
the benefits of the formulas. Begin with Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask
enriched with sugar, honey, and pomegranate seed powder to help polish away
dull skin, for a smooth, radiant complexion. Did I also mention it smells
AMAZING! If you love the scent of oranges and nectarines this product will
transport you to a citrus field of goodness once applied to your skin.
Next, apply Truth 25 percent vitamin C
concentrate, and let it sit on the skin. When I applied step two it felt like a
mattifying film over my skin, but don’t be alarmed this will help enrich and
plump your skin to help minimize fine lines.
Finally, Pure Truth Melting Cleanser layers
(step three) on top of the concentrate to help activate it: the warming
sensation signals that it’s working. Now the product says this is what will
happen, but I have to be honest I didn’t get the tingling sensation. It was simply
comfortable and the third step feels like an oil mask, rather than a cleanser
so don’t be misguided by the name. Lastly, just rinse off the oil cleanser with
the Power Bright complexion sponge provided, and feel how supple and soft your
skin feels.
This set contains:
- 6 x 0.14 oz Facial Mask
- 6 x 0.11 oz Facial Mask Concentrate
- 6 x 0.11 oz Facial Cleanser
- 2 x Complexion sponges
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Phthalates
What else you need to know:
This product is vegan. The powerful system
delivers results in as little as 20 minutes; those with sensitive skin should
conduct a patch test before using. It is recommended for use at night, at least
once per week. For optimal results, use three times weekly. I have found you
see result after the first use, and no matter how much time you wait in between
uses you will always see progressively better results.
Research results:
In a consumer perception study of 40
participants over 8 weeks, using Power Bright as directed 3 times per week:
After 1 use:
- 100% said skin was soft
- 100% said skin was smooth
- 97% said skin was more radiant
- 72% said fine lines and wrinkles looked
smoother
After 4 weeks:
- 97% said it created a more luminous
complexion
- 95% said skin was brightened
- 92% said skin was glowing
- 90% said skin looked youthful
After 8 weeks:
- 90% said lines and wrinkles looked smoother
- 87% said skin was dramatically brightened
- 82% said the appearance of sun damage
improved
- 77% said dark spots appeared diminished
